  • Carbon steel with additives (boron or Mn or Cr) quenched and tempered, C: 0.20 to 0.55, P: 0.025 maximum, S: 0.025 maximum, B: 0.003 maximum
  • In case of plain carbon boron steel with carbon content below 0.25% (cast analysis), the minimum manganese content shall be 0.7%
  • There shall be a sufficient hardenability to ensure a microstructure consisting of approximately 90% martensite in the core of threaded sections of the fasteners after hardening and quenching and before tempering
